The world of Undertale is full of fun and memorable characters. From comedic skeletons to flirtatious robots, it is a game with a ton of heart in its details, writing, and character design.

While the game is a bit more simplistic in its graphics and gameplay, as it all was basically made by a single person (Toby Fox), most of the characters can actually make for a big cosplay project. Nearly the entire cast are monsters with scales, robot parts, and/or horns.

However, such bizarre traits never stop the fan community from bringing these characters to life. After all, Undertale is one of the more popular indie video games out there.

10/10 Mettaton Ex And BurgerPants

The one thing better than cosplaying a character is cosplaying characters as a couple. That is what AngelAngelyss did with her boyfriend. She cosplayed as Mettaton Ex and he as BurgerPants. They have a collection of great shots, but this one takes the cake for most fun.

Being a stylish robot makes Mettaton a bit of a complex cosplay. BurgerPants is a little easier, but he is a more minor character.

9/10 Undyne

Undyne is a very popular character, as she is one of the many monsters that turn from enemy to friend over the course of the game. She also has a pretty cute romance subplot. On top of all that, her character design is pretty unique too. She is like a fish woman that doesn't fall into a commonly seen mermaid category.

The cosplayer of this beautiful Undyne is cloud-dark1470. The make-up was done and the photo was taken by Evil-Siren.

8/10 Toriel

This elegant cosplay was done by IlithyiaEidsvag and the photo was taken by Skyvision Photography.

Toriel is a beloved character and is the first kind monster you meet in the game. There are many ways to translate her character into cosplay. This cosplayer decided to go with a more human-looking incarnation. However, she is recognizable with the horns and that unmistakable royal gown.

7/10 Frisk

Being the only human in the game, Frisk is one of the easier cosplays. Some cosplayers don't even need a wig because their hair is naturally brown. Their clothes are not hard to get down either as it is just a shirt with a simple stripe.

This photo went the extra mile though. Golden flowers are a big deal in the game, making this cosplay photo quite special. The cosplayer is stormyprince and the photography was done by FujimiyaRan.

6/10 Young Asriel Dreemurr

Like Toriel, Asriel is a monster that can be cosplayed in many different ways. This particular cosplayer, Lisa Auditore, has the monster paws, ears, and make-up. To add some story elements, the golden flowers are part of the cosplay as well. This photo was taken by CocoChocoBoo at the Otakuthon convention.

As a character, Asriel is the tragic main villain of the game. Like Frisk, he wears a striped shirt as a child.

5/10 Grillby

While he is quite a minor character in Undertale, Grillby is beloved by the games' fans. He is the bartender of the pub in Snowdin and is a stoic fire monster of few words.

This cosplayer, DarecrowOfficial , was not intimidated by the fact that this character is made of fire and managed to make a full-headed accessory to make the design work. With the fire head, all you really need is some decent bartender clothes!

4/10 Dogamy And Dogaressa

This is definitely one of the cuter couples cosplays out there. These two dog characters are mini-bosses encountered in Snowdin forest. They are part of the Royal Guard.

The Dogamy is cosplayed by DiegoTan. Dogaressa is cosplayed by TeaLabel. The photo was taken by Oskar Śniegowski. The cosplayers made the outfits and weapons themselves out of papermache, PVC pipe, foam, glue, and acrylics.

3/10 Muffet

Cosplayed by SoranoSuzu and photographed by RianaG, Muffet is definitely one of the more difficult monsters to dress as. After all, she has more than two arms and more than one pair of eyes! She makes for one of the most memorable game battles though, so many  more cosplayers would dress as her if she wasn't so difficult.

Other cosplays this cosplayer has done include include characters from Nier: Automata, Dark Souls, The Witcher 3, Alice: Madness Returns, and Dragon Age.

2/10 Asriel

While come cosplayers use some accessories and make-up, others go full fur-suit! The entire thing was made by the cosplayer, TaintedDNA. According to them, they made the outfit through online tutorials and experimentation with the materials.

The materials used include fur fabric (the kind meant for clothes) and foam (for the horns). The cosplayer has also made fursuits for monsters of other games, like the terrifying animatronics from Five Nights at Freddy's.

1/10 Sans

Sans is one of the most popular characters in the game, for good reason. He has a very laid back and fun personality unless you try to complete the genocide playthrough. If you do then, then he is going to give you a very bad time.

The cosplayer is Hiniha and the photography was done by Pixeffect. According to Hiniha, this is one of the most comfortable cosplays she ever had. Sans does tend to dress casual, making him easier to cosplay than the Dreemurr family or Muffet.
